About de Klassieke Salon – De Klassieke Salon

De Klassieke Salon is an independent foundation. It organises events and exhibitions, often in collaboration with other foundations like the International League of Fine Art Schools, ILFAS and various museums and exhibition halls in the northern Netherlands. We are a member of the umbrella organization Classical Art Center. We also collaborate with the online academy classical ART college, the foundation CHAIN (educational activities all over the European Union) and many others.

The goal of the Klassieke Salon is to contribute to the revival of the classical figurative visual art that is currently taking place worldwide. We do this by bringing this art to the attention of the widest possible audience in the Netherlands, and by making contemporary Dutch classical-figurative art known abroad. An ambition that is also expressed in the composition of the board of the foundation.

The Classical Salon Foundation has been designated by the tax authorities as a Cultural Public Benefit Institution (ANBI). This means that contributions and gifts are tax deductible. As ANBI we are also exempt from paying gift and inheritance tax. With a cultural ANBI, donations are tax deductible for 125% (for companies 150%).

Peter Trippi is editor-in-chief of Fine Art Connoisseur, the magazine that serves collectors of historical and contemporary representational art. Previously he served as director of the Dahesh Museum of Art (New York) and vice director for development at the Brooklyn Museum. In 2016 Trippi co-curated an exhibition about the Dutch-born Lawrence Alma-Tadema. That project opened at the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden, Holland, then traveled to Vienna’s Belvedere Museum and London’s Leighton House Museum. Peter also advised the curators of the exhibition ‘The American Dream’, that was shown at both the Drents Museum (Assen, Netherlands) and the Kunsthalle Emden (Germany) in 2017 and 2018.

Mr. Li has been living in the Netherlands for 30 years and has been mediating for years between Dutch and Chinese companies and municipalities. Mr. Li is a Jack at many trades: in the 80s and 90s he even was the coach of the Dutch national Table Tennis men’s team. Mr. Li currently mediates on behalf of foundation the Klassieke Salon with the Xi’an University for an exchange project in collaboration with Klassieke Academie voor Beeldende Kunst.

Annelies came in contact with de Klassieke Salon through Klassieke Academie voor Beeldende Kunst, we’re she was active in the ‘online’ team. The initial idea was that she would make a website for TRAC2018 and manage the social media for this event. But as the organisation of TRAC2018 progressed, she became more and more involved in all parts of this process and eventually even took charge of it. This ultimately went well for all parties/people involved, so for all upcoming events, she will be the overseer/project manager.

Tom Hageman (Amsterdam, 1943) is the founder of De Klassieke Salon, but also founder of International League of Fine Art Schools (2018), Klassieke Academie voor Beeldende Kunst (2004) and initiator of TRAC2018. Tom has been active in the art world since 1962. He studied at the Minerva Academy in Groningen; following this study he visited Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, among others, trips that have strongly influenced his development as an artist. Tom S Hageman was awarded in 2013 to “Knight in the Royal Order of Oranje-Nassau”

Private institution
The Classic Salon is a private institution, does not receive any subsidies and runs entirely on the work of a close and committed team of volunteers.

Volunteers
The foundation is looking for volunteers in the following areas:
– set-up and surveillance of exhibitions in the Netherlands
– PR and promotion via social media

Remuneration policy
Directors do not receive any remuneration for administrative work.
Administrative, communication and technical service staff work on the basis of a voluntary agreement.
